A few weeks ago a short burst of media attention was focussed on the 1990 Aramoana incident as part of the build up for a TVNZ programme series about the AOS.

There is no doubt that the current NZ police attempt to gain more control over semi-automatic firearms through greater restrictions based on certain types of stocks and other purely cosmetic features is evidence of some very woolly and flawed thinking at the most senior levels of our police force.

Cadet Force Rifles

 

Cadet Rifle auction raises $200,000 and (hopefully) teaches NZ Govt and NZDF a timely lesson in basic economics.

 

Readers of NZ guns and hunting will have read our last newsletter setting out the saga of the (then imminent) heritage Cadet Force rifle auction in Wellington. These .22 calibre cadet training rifles (all of which were made in the 1940's and early 1950's) were Lee Enfield No 8's and the even rarer Lee Enfield No 9's (which are essentially a .22 conversion by Parker Hale of the standard .303 No 4 rifle)
